When Ruby Tried to Grow Candy: A Riverside Reads Review
___________________________________________________

Review by Riverside Reads, September 23, 2009

In the book, When Ruby Tried to Grow Candy by Valorie Fisher, Ruby Louise Hawthorn planted candy at her next door neighbour’s house.  Her neighbour, Miss Wysterious was grouchy, but she was nice and she helped her plant candy in her super strange garden (she was growing tea pots, buckets, left footed shoes and cards there).

We are going to grow peppers, onions, corn, tomatoes and sunflowers in our classroom this year, and we might try planting a gumdrop but it might not grow.  If it does we’ll plant Brenden to see if we can get more of him.

Riverside Reads liked When Ruby Tried To Grow Candy.  It was funny when she tried to grow candy.  We liked the pictures showing all the strange things in Miss Wysterious’ garden.

Even though any age could like it, we think it is for grade 3 and under.
