Emma:  I lost my first tooth in kindergarten. My teacher told me to pull it. I pulled it and it fell out.

Squirrelly Gray is about a squirrel named Squirrelly Gray. He’s really bored and has nothing to do so he starts to wiggle his two front teeth. They plop out onto the floor. The tooth fairy comes, but she gets caught in a spider’s web.  He goes and saves the tooth fairy and she gives him a magic acorn.

I loved the art and the words. My favorite part is that there’s color at the end of the book, but not at the front of the book. I also like that the book is written like a poem.

This book is probably for grades 3-5 because there are a lot of words that are probably too hard for a grade k-2 to read on their own.

Breanna:  I have a gray squirrel in my side yard and it is like the one in the book by James Kochalka called Squirrelly Gray!

I like the first of the book because it says “Once upon a boring time” instead of “Once upon a time”. I also like when the tooth fairy gets stuck in a web so Squirrelly Gray saves her and she gives him a magic acorn.

I think this book is recommended for grade 3 and up because it has some hard words. I also recommend this book for smaller kids because someone can read it to them. I like the art because it is gray until the end and then there is colour. I like the squirrel and I want to know if he has a family.

Amanda and Freddy

Freddy: Squirrelly Gray was bored once and he played with his teeth and then his teeth came out.  Then he put his teeth under his pillow and then he waited for the tooth fairy.  Then the tooth fairy got stuck in a web.  Squirrelly rescued her and the tooth fairy gave him a magic acorn.

Amanda:  If I was the squirrel in this book I wouldn’t even talk to the mean fox. Squirrelly Gray is really, really good. The funniest part in the book is in the beginning where it says “Once upon a boring time.”  The pictures and the speech bubbles are cool too. The funniest speech bubble is the one where it said “Do you like my hat? Tee hee.” I think everybody should read this book because it’s really good. I would recommend this book for everybody.

Kyle:  Once upon a boring time there was a little squirrel who’s name was Squirrelly Gray who lived in a tree and only sat in his bed watching static on TV. And then Squirrelly Gray was so bored that he wiggled his two front teeth for fun, but then his teeth popped out on that cold rainy and drizzly night. He put them under his pillow and then Squirrelly Gray heard someone yell for help.  He got his little flashlight and ran out side and squirrelly saw the tooth fairy in a spider web. She said, “Help me help me before the spider comes back. For your bravery I will give you this magic acorn.” Squirrelly gray tried to break the acorn but without his teeth he can not break the magic acorn.  Then came the fox!

I like the book because there is a talking squirrel and a fox named hungry fox. I think I would recommend it for a 1 to 10 year old. The pictures are gray at first and at the end it has colour when the magic acorn cracks.

Haley:  Squirrelly Gray’s teeth popped out.  Just like me Squirrelly Gray waited for the tooth fairy to come.  This is a funny book.  It is great for grade K up to grade 3.

Darren and Ryan

Darren:  How I lost my tooth. When I was playing hockey my friend’s stick came up in through my helmet and hit me in the face.  My tooth fell out my tooth landed in my chin holder and when practice was over my mom came and helped me. I put my tooth under my pillow and when I woke up I got 2 $.  Squirrelly Gray got a magic acorn.

Ryan: I think this book is good for 2  or 3 or4 year olds. I think they would like the first part. It was really funny when his teeth fell out and when the tooth fairy was supposed to come but she got stuck in a spider web. I think this book is also good for grade 3 and 4s because it is a good reading level for them.

Danny and Zack

Danny: Once upon a boring time there lived Squirrelly Gray. He wiggled and wiggled his two front teeth until his teeth fell out. I lost my teeth in soccer like him.

Zack: I wonder if Squirrelly Gray has a family? I think that this book is for about 1 year olds to 100 year olds. I love the pictures and colours!!!! And I like when Squirrelly gray lost his teeth and when he heard when the tooth fairy got stuck in the spider web and gave squirrelly the magic acorn.  I also like when the wolf cracked the magic acorn and it was all colors, because at first it was all black and white.
