The Police Cloud: A Riverside Reads Review
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Posted on March 02, 2008

These are the first reviews the class were asked to write, so they are a bit 'rougher' than the ones that are to come later, but I think they show a lot of promise. Writing a review is hard, and I am quite impressed with their first effort. Please keep in mind that these were written at the first of the school year in September or October.

NOTE: While learning how to save to the network, it seems that some of these earlier reviews have been lost. Sorry.

Taylor:  There once was a cloud that wanted to be a policeman. He got the job but he wasn’t good at it. He cried and saved a burning house. The fireman came and the fire was out.The fire man said “Do you what to be a fireman?” He said “Yes.”  How Christoph  Niemann does the art is crazy.  How he draws it is amazing. I like how he makes the cloud and helicopter big and small when they go in building.  This book is for early elementary. My teacher’s daughter likes the book and she says “Read it!!!!!”

Breanna:  This is a funny book. The pictures are funny. When the cloud goes in a house the cloud turns little and when he’s outside he turns big! The police chief gives the cloud a job as a police cloud. But the cloud makes things go wrong. So the cloud starts crying and he doesn’t even notice that a building is on fire. Then the cloud saves the house and if I was a cloud I would be a firefighter, too. I think everybody could read this book when they are in grade kindergarten or older. The police cloud is a funny book and the art is crazy.

Danny:  I want to be an artist when I grow up. That’s why I like The Police Cloud.  The cloud that becomes a police cloud wants to be a police officer and he gets to be one. I like the art because it is bright in the book. I think the book is better for littler kids.

Haley: I liked The Police Cloud because he gets to be a policeman.  He wanted to help out.  It didn’t work out because he wasn’t very good at it.  I liked it when he tried to be a fireman.  I would recommend this book to read because it is a happy story.

Kyle: The pictures in The Police Cloud are crazy. In one of the pictures there was a police helicopter, and it was humongous! And in another picture there was the helicopter again and it was as small as a toy helicopter. I like the book because it is funny. In one picture the cloud was directing traffic and it was too big and the cars hit the cloud. In another picture the police was trying to catch a burglar but the police cloud caught the police not the burglar. This book is for early elementary students. I think it is at a level I/J book. Good for a grade 1 or 2 student to read.

Brandon: There once was a cloud who wanted to be a police cloud. He asked the police helicopter for help. So they went to the sheriff. He became a police cloud now. So he went to fight crime. He saw a crime so he stepped in but the robbers ran through the cloud the cops got tangled up. So he directed traffic. He wasn’t good at either. The police cloud is a good book for younger readers.

Amanda:  This is a really good book. My teacher read it to me and I really liked it. My favorite part is where the cloud was crying and he saved a house and he didn’t even know it. But the coolest part is the art. There is one really cool picture where there was a helicopter but when he goes inside he is as small as a toy helicopter. I recommend this book for younger children.

Zack:  The story is about a police cloud who wants to be a police officer but becomes a fireman instead.  I like when the cloud didn’t notice that when he was crying he was saving a house. This is a book for BABYS.  Joking.  It is for younger readers. I think a lot of people will like it
