Our Free Comic Book Day Recommendations
___________________________________________________________________________________________
Posted on April 26, 2008

Thanks to our supportive comic community, we have gotten an early look at a few of the all-ages appropriate comics that will be available on May 3rd at your local comic shop, absolutely free.  Yes, free!  There should be no strings attached (no purchase necessary), but the various stores will set their own limits as to how many books you are allowed to take (from one to one of each). The stores have to buy each issue that is free to us, so be sure to say thanks.

You can pick up Riverside Reads’ FCBD issue at Gamezilla on Mountain Road, Moncton.  It is 46 pages of awesome!

We didn’t get a chance to review his FCBD issue, but you can read our interview with Owly creator, Andy Runton HERE.

Now, on to the reviews. (Note: This is only a small selection of what will actually be available on Saturday.

Transformers Animated

Ryan:  What’s in this book?  There are bots fighting and smashing, there are cops under cover,  SWAT surround the bad bots, and it looks like there is a giant flea coming at us.  Read this book and see the giant flea, page 5.

Danny:  The Transformers movie is not exactly the same as the comic, but I like this book so much I want to read it over and over again.

Zackery: A giant flea attacks the city!  Optimus Prime and friends go and help but a partner dies.  This story is a lot different than the movie, this must have been in the future. It is ok but I like the movie more.

KIDS LOVE COMICS! COMIC BOOK DINER

Brandon:      There are 8 stories in this book.  I think that this book for boys and girls to because there are different characters that people might like.  There are superheroes, princes, dragons, monsters, fairies and monkeys so there are a lot of different characters you can choose.  There are a lot more characters, but I won’t list them.  My favorite character is Banana Tail.  He loves bananas.  I think he goes crazy because there are taking bananas that are trying to eat Banana Tail. There is a story with Tbyrd Fearlessness and Hopalong Cassowary that I think is good too.  Because of this book I want to get Banana Tail and Partick the Wolf Boy.

Darren:  There are 8 stories in this book.  My favorite has a character called Roboy Red.  I like him because he is small but fights big.  I like that they put Roboy Red on the back for us to practices drawing him.  If I get to go to a comic book store for FCBD I would look for this book.

SONIC THE HEDGEHOG

Kyle:  In the Sonic FCBD issue Robotnik hates sonic and when Robotnik gets mad he gets his robot sonic and destroys him so he doesn’t get any madder.  That’s pretty weird.
I like this book because I like the Sonic characters.  This book is for  grade 3 and up and I would get it for Free Comic Book Day.

Freddy:  Sonic is the best book.  This FCSD book is for grades 2, 3, 4 and 5.  I like the parts when they fight, because the book is action packed.

Amelia Rules!

Emma: Amelia Rules is a book about a girl named Amelia.  She’s a girl that faces everyday problems and I like that.  There are four stories in this comic.  I hope you come to free comic book day to get one.

Tiny Titans

Haley:  This book is for boys and girls, because it has boys and girls in it.  Cassie didn’t wear her costume the right way.  Wonder Girl and Starfire didn’t like Cassie’s outfit.  But Cassie liked it because she just got it and she didn’t change.
I like this comic.

Amanda:  This book is one of the new FCBD books and I really like it.  One day when the Tiny Titans girls went for a walk they meet this big monster named Plasmus.  Plasmus was eating his ice cream and it started to melt and the girls gave him an extra lollipop because they want to help.

Breanna:  This book is new and I like it. I like it because they are so tiny and there is a cartoon on T.V. about when they are big.  I recommend this book for ages 4 and up because it has a little bit of hard words.  I like the pictures and writing that Art Baltazar and Franco did.
